"We did have an existing relationship with On3 and I must say
that they are fantastic to deal with. Their track record on servicing
and hire is excellent. I feel privileged to be able to deal with them.
I hope they feel the same.
Marc Hodges, Tudor Rose International
We've got half a dozen different areas that rely on us to get
things right in the warehouse. That means we want a company that we
can trust to sort out our requirements promptly and efficiently.
Stuart Thompson, Q Medical
We are delighted with the results. The site runs smoothly, we
were well informed and looked after throughout the construction stages,
and the business continues to grow well as a result.
John
Verdon, Avon Metals
"I could not find anything to compete with the inherent build quality
of the Daewoo range and that was before we talked prices! Our operators
love these trucks and converting manual tasks to forklift operations
has made their lives a whole lot easier"

All Part Of The Service?

Ever just wanted to get away from it all?
Take up that latest offer for a cheap flight and lie on a sunny
beach? But do you come over cold when you add up the real cost of
getting you there?
All is not what it seems in the land of advertised prices, special
offers and great deals.
Making sure you get the best deal from your forklift servicing
company can be a bit of a minefield too.
Next time you review your service agreement there are a few things
you may want to consider.
To maintain your truck, the engineer has to get to your site, so
it stands to reason that an invoice will include travel.
How is it calculated? Do you get charged from one job to another
or from the engineers base to your site?
Some additional charges on your service invoice are expected -
the ones for filters, oils, chain spray for example.
Environmental laws now regulate the disposal of oils and the filters
and it is fair enough to pass the charge on to you as the customer
- but not if you operate electric trucks!
If your engineer finds a problem that needs to be solved it might
be worth finding out if he is on a bonus or commission on sales.
Engineers given incentives to sell parts tend to be the ones that
find more problems to fix!
Its not an easy one to check, but ringing an alternative company
for an estimate to fix the same problem may be a way of checking
you are getting a fair deal on your replacement parts, as well as
ensuring the job does need doing.
Take ten minutes - pull out an invoice - ask yourself this
· Are you charged for call out?
· Are you charged labour for travel as well as mileage?
· Are you charged for return visits to solve repeat problems?
· Are you charged environmental disposal if you run electric
trucks?
· Are you paying for a whole tube of grease every time?
· Do you always get an estimate for work being carried out?
· How do you check parts prices are competitive?

Unscrupulous Forklift Companies
Consolidated Fork Truck Services, a joint venture between BITA
and FLTA has accused some "unscrupulous" dealers of
failing to provide a Report of Thorough Examination certificate
arguing that the annual exam is an important legal requirement
that helps confirm when equipment is safe to use.
The CFTS said that there were some companies operating trucks
without an up-to-date certificate and were unwittingly risking
their employees' safety. Steve Hodkinson, chairman of CFTS
said: "This unacceptable situation is the direct result
of a lack of understanding of thorough examination in the
industry as a whole."
Reduced Back Injuries
Doosan researchers found that seating position has a key role
to play in repetitive strain and lower back injuries. A key
factor in the position of the operator is the angle of the mounted
steering column. The new Doosan B20X with gas spring loaded
adjustable steering column allows complete flexibility on the
steering column angle. The gas spring is a hydro-pneumatic adjusting
element.
